High School: The Haves & Have Nots 4

BIG IDEA

Through Jesus, you belong to the

father and his family.

MESSAGE NOTES:

WHAT:

Ubuntu reminds us that we can't do life alone — we need each other.

I become more of who I am supposed to be when I walk through life with others.

SO WHAT:

Have you ever struggled to fit in somewhere?

Moses ran and hid. Until God met him in his hiding. And what God showed Moses was two-fold: you belong to me and you belong with my people.

God designed you to belong.

God adopts kids through Jesus.

God places his kids together (to belong to each other.)

God's family is filled with people from every nation, tribe, and tongue.

NOW WHAT:

So what is the Church supposed to do?

Our purpose, as God's family, is to join God's plan to redeem and restore hope to a broken world.

You are valuable and what you have is valuable. Now go live like you know what you have.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Q1: Which side is easier to belong to: the father (God) or his family (the Church)?

Q2: Who are some of the people in your life who feel like family, even though you're not related?

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Q3: Do you have any relationships like this right now? If so how do these friends change how you face the day, the world, the decisions you make?

Q4: Is there anyone in your life you think you need to spend less time with (NO NAMES) , and why?

Q5: Why do you think it's important that God's family is made up of people "from every nation, tribe, and tongue"? Does your community reflect the diversity of God’s family? (In thoughts, beliefs, cultures, etc.)
