BIG IDEA
We All Have a Past
MESSAGE NOTES:
WHAT:
We struggle with our past.
Whether you struggle with actions from your past, what was done to you in the past, or a comparison cycle where you constantly can’t measure up.... they all lead to the same place...the real me isn’t good enough.
The fight is to focus on what you ALREADY HAVE rather than focusing on what you DON’T HAVE.
SO WHAT:
I want to look at Moses’s past.
God shows Moses that his past was not too big or too shameful or too disgusting or too bad for God to use.
NOW WHAT:
Your past is valuable because it has shaped who you are today.
Your past does not define who you are today.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Q1: In one word, how would you describe your past? How about with one positive word and one negative word?
Q2: On a scale of 1-5, how comfortable are you with telling others about your past? Why?
Q3: Let's talk about our pasts — When you were younger, what did you hope for? What did you love to do? What kind of person did you want to become?
Q4: What are some challenging life events that have shaped you and maybe make you feel as if your childhood dreams would be harder to attain now?
Q5: What parts of your past are you most thankful for?
Q6: If you had to guess, how do you think God might want to use your past (or the past of someone else in this group) for good?
