Choose Your Own Adventure 1

BIG IDEA

Knowing God is an adventure, not a formula.

MESSAGE NOTES:

WHAT:

If you did the same thing, every day, over and over again, it wouldn't feel much like an adventure anymore.

The adventure you've been invited into is the journey of knowing, loving, and following Jesus. The adventure is your faith.

SO WHAT:

Your faith journey is an adventure because it's a relationship with the Creator of the universe!

There are many ways to spend time with God:

  • Worshiping God through music, dance, or art.

  • Spending time with God in nature.

  • Journaling their prayers to God.

  • Studying the original languages of Scripture, theology, or church history.

There is not one way to connect with God, because knowing God is an adventure, not a formula.

NOW WHAT:

A relationship with God is an adventure — not a formula.

Knowing God, and getting to know God better, will be the best journey you'll ever take and the greatest relationship you'll ever have.

Spending time with God can look a little different for each of us because God created each of us to be unique.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Q1: How is spending time with God like spending time with friends? How is it different?

Q2: How often do you try to spend time with God? When, where, and how?

Q3: When you spend time with God, what is working well for you? What's not really working?

Q4: What are some not-so-common ways of spending time with God?

Q5: What's one method of spending time with God that stood out to you, but that you hadn't considered before today? Why did it stand out to you?

Q6: Which new method will you try this week?
