Tribe 2

BIG IDEA

Walk the Walk & Talk the Talk

MESSAGE NOTES:

WHAT:

Tribe: any collection of people united by ties of descent from a common ancestor, community of customs and traditions, allegiance to the same leaders.

Being in a tribe means there is an agreement of some sort on how we all behave and what is expected of us.

The customs and traditions for God’s tribe are specific to this tribe's goals.

SO WHAT:

The goal is to make sure other people know God, so that those people would experience the love of God and the fullness of life with Him.

God has invited you into His Tribe and He invites you to live a thriving life by participating in His tested and proven ways of “doing”.

NOW WHAT:

1 John 3:18-19 Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.

The Bible is the instruction manual for how to have a successful tribe.

Philippians 2:5 NIV  In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus

If you stop focusing on the task and start focusing on the person, it won’t feel like a chore anymore.

Galatians 6:10 Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Q1: What family traditions do you have?

Q2: In your own words, what do you think the goal of God’s Tribe is?

Q3: Can you think of a time when your “doing” didn’t serve the Tribe well? What would you do differently now?

Q4: How can you focus on people over the task?

Q5: What is one area of your life that you could “do life” more like Jesus?

ACTION STEP:

Look in the manual for how Jesus did life well in the area you want to get better in.

(Look in Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John)
