Belonging with God is what produces joy in obeying him.

WHAT: 

Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ... Philippians 1:27a NLT

Following Jesus means you are a citizen of heaven.

There’s behavior that’s associated with belonging.

SO WHAT:

Acting like you belong will leave you feeling like an outsider who’s trying.

We don’t start a relationship with God by acting like we belong, we start with belonging.

God wants you to have confidence that you’re a citizen of heaven.

NOW WHAT:

With God, obeying isn’t the root of belonging, it’s the fruit of belonging.

Belonging to and being loved by God means less trying and more transforming.

Care less about our earthly citizenship and more about our heavenly citizenship.
