BIG IDEA
Graciousness towards others can unlock grace for others.
MESSAGE NOTES:
WHAT:
There is a direction connection between the grace on our lives and the grace we give to other people.
Matthew 5:7 says, “God blesses those who are merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
SO WHAT:
The way Jesus sees people is not only unique and different, it’s the fresh perspective we need. After all, he created people. He has a better idea on why he made us and the value we have than we do. This was a major theme and turning point for Jesus’ disciples. He wanted his followers to start seeing people differently.
His view of people sees them with the potential to become exactly how he made us.
With the help of His clear sight, we see both our sin and His forgiveness. Then perhaps we can begin to see other people the way Jesus sees them, through the eyes of His grace. -Dave Jenkins
NOW WHAT:
We make an impact on other people finding the grace of Jesus.
Graciousness towards others can unlock grace for others. Starting with your words is a great first step. Challenge yourself to remember grace, not judgement and change your words.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt talking come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Starting with your words could be the best way to reset your heart towards grace from others.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Q1: Have you ever seen bitterness towards others dry up grace from your own life?
Q2: Who do you need to re-look at through the eyes of Jesus?
Q3: Who in your life has shown you grace?
Q4: How do you feel about changing your words?
