On February 10th, High School service will move to 5pm.
We are moving YX High School to Sunday nights at 5pm starting February 10. This will bring the RLC 5pm service to a close starting Super Bowl Sunday (since there is no service that night because of Super Bowl).
Why move YX to Sunday at 5pm?
We want to be wiser with all of our resources toward our Family Ministry here at RLC, specifically our high schoolers. One of those resources is time.
With the building currently being constructed and scheduled to open in the fall of 2019, we want to go ahead and move our high schoolers to a time that makes more sense for them to attend and bring their unchurched friends toward the beginning of this year rather than in the fall.
We find that 7pm on Sunday nights is rather late to have a 90 minute program for high schoolers.
Having high schoolers meet at 5pm takes away further obstacles for them to attend.
Why can’t the High School ministry move to another night?
In talking with high schoolers, a Sunday late afternoon/early evening is more beneficial because of meetings, sports, work, homework they have throughout the week.
In moving the high school ministry to Sunday evenings from Wednesday evenings, we have seen increased participation but we feel moving the time help us reach more high schoolers in our valley.
Is this permanent?
Nothing at RLC is ever set in stone. We would like to try this for a season and see how it works as students prepare for the new building. We are always evaluating whether we are being effective in what we are doing.
What are alternatives for those attending the 5pm service since it will be cancelled?
We have a night service on Thursday evenings at 7pm. We also have 3 other services on Sunday for people to attend.
We would have our online service (taped) posted on Sunday evenings for people to watch it needed.
