Under Pressure 1

Week 1: Spiritually Empty

Big idea: Stress is an empty problem more than a busy problem.

Text: Proverbs 18:14, Psalm 63:5-8, Matthew 11:28

Q1: What stresses you out?

Q2: How can busy be non-stressful?

Proverbs 18:14 A man's spirit will endure sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear? (ESV)

Q3: What is the difference between fatigue and stress?

Psalm 63:5-8 My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips, [6] when I remember you upon my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night: [7] for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy. [8] My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me. (ESV)

Q4: What do you try to “escape” stress? (Netflix, parties, etc.)

Q5: Why isn’t “escaping” enough?

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (ESV)

Q6: How can Jesus give you rest?

Q7: What do you need to change so that “busy" stops calling the shots?
