HOPE for Everyone - Week 4

BIG IDEA

Jesus is the only thing that will ever fully satisfy.

KEY VERSES

John 6:25-27

25 When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?” 26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”

John 6:47-51

47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

John 6:67-68

67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. The crowd followed Jesus because He fed them, but He wanted them to seek something deeper. What are some things in life that people chase, thinking they will bring fulfillment, but ultimately leave them empty?

  2. Have you ever felt pressure to give up or hide your faith because of the environment you were in? How did you respond, or how do you think you would respond?

  3. Peter responded to Jesus by saying, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." What do you think he meant, and how can we have the same perspective when facing challenges?

  4. The message talks about people trying to fill the "hole" in their lives with things like partying, relationships, or success. Why do you think these things often fail to truly satisfy people?

  5. Jesus offers a relationship that brings true fulfillment. What does that look like in practical terms, and what are some ways we can deepen our relationship with Him?
